A New Canvas

The best thing about starting over, is that you dont actually have to start at the beginning of your life, or at the start of a new season or a new year, you start over whenever you want, whenever you need.

I remodeled my room today, i was just tired of it looking like a hurricane blew through. So im picking up clothes and random hair scrunchies when i decide to take all my pictures of the wall. So here i am ripping down newspaper articles, pictures from magazine, and actual paintings from my wall. Finally, paper and pictures surround my feet and the floor and i look up at the wall, a clean wall. A clean canvas, a new beginning.

Its like when your buying something, and your seriously like a dime short, and your digging through your pockets and bags and you can only for some reason find 9 pennies, and there isn't any on the floor, when you know everybody just leaves pennies.. well not today. The penny man came and took them all up. So your looking like the lady who left her wallet at home and brought every bag in her closet, but no money to pay for them. So you recount your nine pennies, and realize that one looks shinier than the others, so you stick it up to your eye like your blind and, yepp! there it is, that dude thats on the dime, that isn't Abraham Lincoln. So you proceed to scratch off the dirt and the coverings to see that its a dime, so all you had to do was rub off the gunk, and it would shine.

That was my wall today, the uncovering of a new identity. A new start, a clean start to whatever is ahead. And its the fact that when i look at the wall, its clean and i can see the room i live most of my life in. I can see the chipped paint, the nail holes and the makeup smudges on the walls.

Not all clean starts are blameless and perfect, some have a little pieces chipped off, but its okay. Because the best thing about chipped pieces, is finding something new to fill it in and make it whole again.

So here is to New Years, New Starts, and a can of paint!
